How to Get and Agent Part 2 - My Submission Pack
Peek inside the submission pack that landed me my agent
I’ve spoken before, in general terms, about how to get an agent, but there’s a lot more to say on this, and also, you can talk until you’re blue in the face in more general terms, but what you need sometimes is to be able to see for yourself - the tone, the structure, what to say. You need EXAMPLES. What follows is my submission pack for my first novel. Now, do not for a moment think this is a model submission pack, because it isn’t. I am not offering it as an A+ model pack, merely… a pack. This is what I put, and it’s not perfect, but it led to me securing representation and a book deal, so we can assume that it’s also not terrible I think. Next week, I’ll share the emails I got back from three potential agents - one which ended in what I think of as a “short no”, one that was a “long no”, and finally the agent who offered me representation. But first, the pack itself.
